Rev. Joel Slemp joined the Colchester Freewill Baptist Congregation as a lay member in 1956. He was ordained as a minister in 1969. In 1969 he served as the Assistant Pastor and in 1972, Rev. Slemp was elected by the church body to serve as pastor.

Over the past 40 plus years, he has touched the lives of many individuals and families in their most desperate time of need. We thank God for his leadership and for Rev. Slemp who sets an example and holds true to his convictions and the teachings of Gods holy word.

Pastor Joel has been married to Donna Slemp for nearly 50 years. They have two sons, Dallas and Jamie and two daughters, Delores and Sandy. They have been blessed with 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
